Needing location ideas?
No problem, I got you! One of the questions I will ask when you book a session with me is "do you have a location in mind, or do you need ideas?" A majority of the time my clients are needing help choosing where to have their session done. If you already have a spot in mind because you love it or it is a special place to you, then one of the hardest parts is already covered!
If ideas are still needed, then here are some things to think about and consider for your future session/s (this can be for any kind of session, family, senior, engagement, maternity, etc). When you think of your session, what do you envision? Think of what will be on your walls, invitations or however you choose to display and share those images. Do you picture more of a nature type backdrop or urban setting and do you have certain props to go with specific settings?
From there you can think of more details. If you're thinking nature, what landscapes then fit you best? The lovely thing about nature is that there is quite the variety of options. Do you like trees and forest looks, orchards, fields and long grass, country dirt roads, barns or old buildings, flower fields or maybe you want sand and water in which case would lead to the beachy options.
The other route you can go is an urban setting. Maybe you're more of a city life person/people and want to incorporate that into your photos. I'm not sure if everyone thinks the same way when they hear "urban" but what I suggest for that vibe is more of a downtown setting. You can find some neat old or newer buildings to utilize, maybe some concrete steps leading to a neat spot (or they just look cool). Perhaps you're artsy and want to capture a building/wall that is covered in art for your backdrop. How about a cool looking parking garage where you can incorporate some fun poses on the top floor that even opens up to more city landscape in the background.
If none of these options appeal to you, then maybe an indoor spot is the way to go. Again, is there a certain location special to you (while keeping lighting in mind)? If not, then I happen to have a smaller studio space that can be utilized for certain looks for either a whole session or to use in addition to an outdoor setting for a mix of looks.
I live in a small town located in the beautiful PNW and though for the most part I stick to local locations, I definitely love to get out and search for that right spot based off the information I get from you. Photographs tell a story, and I want that story to show who you are as a person, family, or a couple!
